Michael,
Short but sweet episode! Every scene was packed with edge-of-your-seat drama!
The Claire/Loretta stuff kept getting better as Claire desperately tried to put the pieces together. It was a great that Loretta just kept giving her more and more without giving her time to think it through. Of course, the dogs were scary but Loretta just wants them dead.
The scene with Molly and Philip was great too. First she was thinking of them then she realized who Loretta is and she got icy with him. We didnt get to read much from his point of view ... I wonder if he felt the chill from her. I'm hoping he's not involved with Loretta in the criminal sense though. He and Molly are awesome!
The mystery guest ... at first I thought James was going to be alive
The ending I was on the edge of my seat. Should be a great next ep.

I really wanted to include some other storylines, but it felt really unnatural to cut back and forth between this high-drama climax and some of the relatively sedate goings-on back home. I figure we'll just check in with everyone else very soon.

It definitely remains to be seen how much Philip knows and how involved in Loretta's schemes he's been. At least Molly was smart enough to be wary (for once)!

I finally had the time to sit down and really catch up on all my Epi shows today, and it was good to divulge back into Footprints. Leading up to this episode I think you have moved things along really well Michael and I enjoyed all of the Loretta's party leading up to this point so very well done.
Claire/Loretta- I adored their scenes and I do get where Loretta is coming from with everything. I also like the idea of Claire actually getting a family member so that she just doesn't have to rely on the Fisher's as her tie to the series.
Molly/Phillip- Was engaging as someone who doesn't normally care for Molly I found her scenes her very good. Phillip stuck her in an impossible situation between her family and her loyalty for him. That being said I really like them together and hope they can work something out.
Brent- I actually found his scenes great as well in this episode. It could be that this was so fast paced so I thought it fit well with what was going on.
Like Dallas I had thought you were going to pull James as the mystery guest.
Overall a great visit in King's Bay Michael and it was great to step back in and get caught up.
Kelly

That's a big part of why I wanted to do this. Claire has been a mainstay of the series for its entire run, but aside from James, she's never had a relative of her own. Especially with the messy way this is coming out, it sets up a lot more story for these characters as we go onward!
I appreciate you stopping in, Kelly! I hope the rest of this story keeps you entertained.

Exciting episode! The scenes in the yard with the dogs and the prospect of Brent and Claire being torn to shreds was very effective. But man when the dogs started tearing at his prosthetic I cringed! How awful! I mean, yes, it's good that they had something non-tissue related to sink their teeth into. But still! aaack! If they make it out of this i know someone who is going to be hobbling home.
Probably my favorite were the Molly and Philip scenes. The progression of her becoming uncomfortable after learning who his father was was so good. I'm dying to get more of his side of the story. I can't believe he has had any malicious part in this, but you never know I guess.
I also thought it was going to be James getting out of the car. Having Tim there instead was a big suprise. I hope he kicks some Loretta ass.

Glad those scenes worked for you! They seemed kind of silly in my head -- pit bulls and prosthetics! -- but it's a good way to keep Brent's disability alive in the story. And certainly convenient for both of them!

I actually expanded those while I was writing. I didn't plan for them to have such a sense of foreboding, as Molly realized the truth about James and that she had sequestered herself in a room with a man who might've been playing her all along. I will say that I didn't bring Philip in and set up his bond with Molly and his sibling relationship to Claire just to make him a disposable villain, but there's a lot of grey area between that and "completely innocent"...
Thanks, as always, for taking the time to comment, Andy.
